The second opening night of St Barth Photo Festival 2021 will unveil the exhibition Next to the swimming pool through Greg lotus, to Hotel Christophe November 25e.
Following Ellen von Unwerth’s opening night at Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle de France the day before, visitors can enjoy Thanksgiving Day with a selection of eleven images from the American photographer.
True to the theme of the island, the exhibition presents a series of photographs celebrating haute couture by the pool. Each image is imbued with a strong sense of refinement and sophistication, featuring carefully choreographed scenes that often use the physicality of the body as a medium of expression, drawing inspiration from sports themes such as swimming and aerobics. Lotus’ captivating images portray worlds of perfection with their very neat and meticulously posed models, but upon closer study the images reveal their imperfections, playing with the viewer’s sense of reality.
Greg Lotus, represented by The selection gallery at the event, is a frequent contributor to publications such as Vanity Fair, GQ, L’Uomo Vogue, W magazine and Italian Vogue, having her first big break by the late Franca Sozzani herself in 2004. From Likewise, at her precursor opening of the night, Ellen von Unwerth, Lotus also began her modeling career and quickly turned her interest behind the lens.
As the 2021 St Barth Photo Festival continues, each opening night unveils a new realm of visual language with artists who all have a very different take on fashion photography and provide an opportunity to immerse themselves in the vision of each artist.
