Opening of a new exhibit by artist Kay Thomas in the YMCA Community Gallery

The North Suburban YMCA Community Gallery features Highland Park artist Kay Thomas in March. All paintings are for sale and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Y’s visual arts program.

Known for her watercolor work and her passion for Asian arts, Thomas studied sumi-e with Motoi Oi and Evalyn Aaron and Chinese painting at the School of Chinese Brushwork in New York with Wang Chi Yaun. She continued her studies of Chinese painting in Chicago with Monica Liu, Charles Liu and Guang Xin Qian, and took part in workshops with Cheng-Khee Chee, Henry Wo Yue-Kee, Shozo Sato and Koho Yamamoto. She also studied oil, craft, portrait painting, screen printing, monoprint and marbling.

The North Suburban YMCA Community Galleries support the local arts community by providing a place to exhibit and sell their work. For more information about the gallery, contact Cathie Winnie at [email protected]
